Thump, Thump Thump....

I was going down the interstate this morning and the rear end shimmied a little then I started hearing a thumping noise. I thought I had a flat on one of the duallys so I pulled over and looked. Nope. All tires were good. I took off and couldnt really pin point where it was coming from. Im going to get it on some jack stands tomorrow, get it in gear and see if it is coming from the rear end or maybe the drive shaft.

Could you feel it or just hear it?

Just hear it. There was a slight shimmy in the back end of the truck then the noise started. Haven't been able to get it up on jack stands due to rain. I have to work on it in the gravel drive. The pole barn is packed tight. Besides, either way ill be on gravel.

It was nice out today so I got the truck up on stands after work. No noise coming from the rear while in gear. I jacked up the front end and the driver wheel bearing is shot, the passenger had just slight play in it. I'll do bothe of them. There is a tie rod about to break loose. I just looked at the tie rods about 2000 miles ago and the looked weathered but not about to break free like now. These roads are really bad after that cold winter we had and I think its taking its tol on this front end, granted its got 200,000 miles on. I dont know if any parts have been replaced. I pretty much expected to have to throw some money at this after I bought it.

Where is everyone getting bearings from these days?
