I'd really like to eliminate that 3rd injection event also. It would be nice to get better than 10 mpg towing my trailer all day around town. $70 fillup is annoying.

I'm under the impression that there are no federal emission standards for diesels until 2007. Or at least that is when new standards will be enforced. With that in mind, all this talk about required emission components on our trucks is just that, a bunch of talk. As an indicator, diesel pickups in Texas are NOT inspected for emissions.

 

It's not that there are NO emissions standards, it's that they get stricter in '07. Just a thought I had the other day, us guys with the 04.5+ trucks are footing the bill for Commyfornia, Mass, and NY. The HO's didn't meet the emissions requirements there, and in their quest to sell them there the whole rest of the country is paying in the form worse fuel mileage.

 

LOL Commyfornia , the third event quit before your rpm reaches 1500 rpm, another way to look at it is , if you didnt have the third event, that would only mean you would have a EGR valve along with a cooler and intake venturi on the engine instead , NO THANKS , I can live with the third event injections just wait til 07, trucks will have a fuel injector just for keeping the cat hot. I drove a test truck coupla weeks ago , it had a ecm and fuel injector just for the cat muffler and oil recovery system for the breather.

 

That is correct began with 04.5. Not found on the 03 and early 04's..
