Third Clutch Fan with sheared wires-need input from others...
If you've had this experience in your 2003/2004, please respond. I'll be forwarding this to Dodge. I've read about others having this and want to get as much input from others in the same situation.
My experience was purchasing the vehicle with 81K miles and a clean Car Fax report. I noticed my AC never worked at idle. I went through the AC and it was pressure tested, etc. Then the clutch fan was checked and it had no tension. By this time the fan blades were a mess and someone zip tied the plug for the fan to the frame rail. Another fan and clutch was purchased and replaced -- that lasted a whole 2 hours!. I took it back to the repair shop and the next steps were: motor mounts, move the radiator mounts as forward as possible. Zip tie where possible, etc, etc. It's hard to say how long that lasted, but I'll give it about 200 miles max. Dodge did warranty the 2nd fan, less the labor costs. I called Flex-A-Lite and talked to a tech about their electric fan kit. It is not made for a 2003 and a prototype is being created--eta is unknown.
I appreciated hearing from all truck owners that have experienced this irritating and expensive problem. I'll be sending this to a rep at Dodge.
Thank you,
Michael

Electric clutch fan issue
Hello,
I have the same issue. When we bought the truck the fan wires had been sheared off & a fan blade was broken off. Some vibration when idling in gear (from the fan clutch spinning with the motor). This is fixed by changing engine RPM (put into neutral).
I spliced the wires back and moved the bracket into the production position. It was good for 4 months but was sheared recently and I need to creatively fix it this time.
Something like adding several feet to the cable & running it around the fan shroud. Also, I am thinking of adding some masonry wire so the torque of that fan (draws near 20HP when fully locked up) wont fatique the wires & repeat. This looks like a production design flaw to me.

Still no fan on the truck and Dodge....
is not warrantying the third one. They have provided no response and it really pisses me off. I can't tow the RV so the truck is useless!
