Fuel savings

I am willing to bet a 2 mpg fuel savings, which in 44K miles to recieve your payback. Also consider the lowered amount of rev's on the motor as a benefit.

I found the gears for the 11.5 rear, but not for the front (9.25 I think). Does anyone know if the GM 9.25 front diff takes the same gears, cause they have them.

JMO but I would Trade another member on this fourm your 4:10's for there 3:73's and I think you will get 20mpg empty, my dad has 3;73s with a 6sp in his 03 and at 115 to 120km his tach sits at about 2150 or 2100 rpm and thats where he see's the best fuel economey.

I have 03 as well with 3:73's and i get 20mpg at 2150 at 120kmh.

MPG with 3:42 gears

I spoke with the guy at "Just Differentials" and they do offer the 3:42 for both diff's on a 2004 dodge.

The price is $975 for both sets of gears and the complete install kit (shims, crush sleeve, spacer, etc.).

The price w/ complete bearings is $1275

Fluid - They suggest 80-140 weight Richmond GL6, $10 per quart, takes about 8 quarts.

He said a lot of people have ordered this kit and stated the increase in mpg is 2+. For 2 mpg, I think I am in, especially if it lowers the noise and less turning of the motor.

2mpg? I can feel the Visa card burning a hole in my pocket... I don't trust what most people say about their mileage, including vendors. But I do think these would help.

2 MPG Good Idea

I have heard from several different source that you can easily get a 2+ MPG gain by doing the conversion to the 3.42! I would go for it if I was you!

35" tires with 4:10 gears has the same final drive as a truck with 3:73's and stock tires... You can have someone with a scan tool change your computer's setting to 3:73 so your speedo & such are correct.

It would be cheaper...

BTW: This is how my truck is set up and I see about 1900 RPM @ 70 with the 48re.
