Thinking about buying an 04
I've been doing some pricing on the web and they have a 3.9% intrest rate special going on until October 31 this year. I did some checking and can find a truck that meets my needs for a decent price. I'm wondering what you guys are getting for pricing on these things. Are there any cheap deals you've seen out there?
Just beginning my legwork for a possible order in the next few months. I'll probably sell my current truck before buying a new one, and then go for the 04 model HO 6spd.

I just order and got a price below invoice + any incentives that are available at the time of delivery. I'm just hoping that the incentives go up and there is no EGR when it comes in.
I'm in Maryland and my dealer always sells at invoice or below invoice then takes off incentives.

My brother checked on prices and they were willing to take $7'000 off a truck with the sticker price of $37,000 on an 03 off the lot.

Wow, not a bad deal. I bet there are some good deals out there, but all of the trucks here locally on the lot are autos, and I am NOT about to buy another auto. I'm done with them. I am going to order mine custom because there are certain things that I want and don't want.

I thought you had your auto rebuilt? Is it still giving you problems? If so, what is happening. I'm considering making the same switch as you.

I did have it rebuilt Right now it's got an ATS Stage IV tranny in it, and it's been wonderful. The only reason I don't want another auto is because I don't trust them stock. I would put another ATS in any day, but not a stock tranny. I also don't want to spend 6-7k on a tranny right after I buy a new truck. In addition to that, I want to have more control over the gears when towing. I want to make it easier on myself trying to keep the engine in the sweet spot when going through the mountains etc.
I'm going to be driving a different car now to work and stuff so this will only be used for towing and SAR activities with the pup.

Wow!!! Is that what it runs to put a new tranny in? I've looked a little at some of the different companies' web sites but wasn't sure if their prices included labor.

Drove an 03 6 speed today. Liked it a lot. Something I didn't like though. I didn't like the way you have to shift the thing. Maybe it's because I haven't driven a stick on a bigger pickup in a while, but I kept screwing up trying to get the thing in 5th and 6th. Don't laugh!
Other thing is that it's real quiet at idle, but doesn't seem much quieter than mine when hitting the gas. It did have a lot more pickup than mine stock though. Mine will of course blow it away with the comp, but it sure was a fun test drive. I'm seriously thinking about an 03 or 04. What do you guys think is the best year to go? I'm afraid of getting EGR if I order an 04.

I'd give Luke a PM or call.
I would think you, being the one who "Owns this Place", would get a great price from him.
Personally, I'd find a nice slightly used 2002, you could even transplant your ATS into it.
Then you wouldn't have to do so much darn shifting.

Re:Thinking about buying an 04
If you want an '03, you better get one fast because they seem to be disapearing pretty quick. My dealer as a few left now where they had a bunch a month ago. With the '04, just get a deal like I got. My dealer says that if I don't want it, I don't have to take it. Infact, I didn't even put any money down to order. I'm more worried about overall quality, because it seems every vehicle rides different even when new and the same model, then the EGR. But I prefer not to have an EGR.

Re:Thinking about buying an 04
I don't think there are any significant differences between the early 04s and the remaining 03s. Rear headrests, chrome body moulding... that kind of stuff. I'm guessing you can get a better deal on an 03 (shoot, rebates alone are $1500 better) than a new 04. If you're planning on keeping it, then resale/depreciation isn't that much of a concern, so I'd go with an 03. If you think you'll trade in a few years, the 04 is the best bet.
That said, for my 03, MSRP: $39260, out the door: $31097. I don't pay sales tax since I'm a NH resident and I also got the $750 military bonus.
