think i took a good one yesterday-drive shaft
my truck started clunking between shifts pretty good. took a look under at the drive shaft, sure enough the carrier bearing had alot of play in it. the slip yoke in the middle of the drive shaft had some play in it also. so call a drive line shop and told them what problems i was having talked about what needed to be done and got a ball park of what it was going to cost. guy tells me about $200-$400 at the most! so i pull it off and take it in cause the wanted an extra $72.50 to pull and install. a few hours later i get a call that the parts are a little more than they thought, even after i told them over the phone everything about the truck and what all was needed. $600 later it back together and sounds alot better too! i just wish they would tell you up front instead for feeding you all kind of BS to make it sound cheap to get your buisness.
they replaced 2 u-joints (i already did one), welded in a new male end of a slip yoke and replaced female slide on end for the middle, replaced carried bearing, ballance and straightened shaft.
so did i get the shaft yesterday or was this a fair price?
