Terrible mileage.
My truck (see sig) is getting about 11.5 mpg around town. I haven't driven it lately on the highway to know what my avg. highway mpg is. What gives? I'm thinking about pulling the Rokktech off. I'm also running Diesel Power fuel additive.

I took my Rokktech off a while back. I lost about 1.5 MPG with it on. The sensor shouldn't be bringing you down that low. I was still getting 17-18 with the Rokktech around town. You should be around the same with your 03'.

I to get a kick out of everyone that owns these great ctd. They all wan't 310hp and 25 mpg. The only question I have for them is. Why didn't you buy a Honda Ridgeline? It will get you about 22mpg, is about 1/2 the size, can't hall or tow Edit, and still cost you $35,000.00. Me, I don't think so. I am one very proud owner of the ctd. I don't care what the mpg is because I know I allways have all the power I need, to do what ever I need.

Might sound weird, but open hwy at 65 mph on cruise i average about 22.5 hand calc. That is with no strong headwind and no mountain driving, around town I average 17-18 empty, the only time I have averaged that low is towing 10k lb trailer. From what I can see it varies from truck to truck, driver to driver, weather, idle time, traffic, brand of fuel, and keeping it under 2000rpm
Also the overhead it only close to being accurate if you set cruise, rest the o/h and drive 500 miles, it is only off a little then, just my .02

Stop light and signs kill fuel economy as well. Around town you can watch the MPG drop everytime you come to a stop, and while you get rolling again, it's depressing!

MPG!! No one believes me
(See my Sig) My 03 had 3044 miles on it when I bought it at 8 months old. I now have 35000, and was getting 20 to 21 highway, 15 + city. After the mods I get 18 city 24 + highway. I don't care that I am not believed, because I can pass the gas station, and laugh. I have $$$ in my pocket. Don't tell my wife. I just have a very good truck that I am proud of. I am very easy on the pedal, but not grandma slow poke. Have a great day all. No brag just fact. javahjoeo from Kokomo

I just got back from a 2600 mile trip. I got 15.6 hand calculated empty on the slow two lane roads I took on the way up. On the way back I took interstate and had a sled trailer with about 2000 lbs on it and a sled deck in the back of the truck with my sled. Runnin 75-80 I was gettin 7.5-8 mpg on the overhead. I didnt care much I just wanted to get home. This is with a triple dog in performance setting and 315 tires and a leveling kit.

I've got 4:10's and 305/65 Pro Comps, made a trip to Jersey ran 70 both ways at just under 19 mpg on the overhead the trip back was with a motorcycle in the bed. Around town I'm usually around 16-17 on the overhead, not a lead foot but I don't get taken off the light often. Last time I hand calculated my overhead was 1mpg low, if that;s still the same I'm 17-18 backroads and 19 hwy.

We bought CTDs for the same reason you did. Why would you not care what the mileage is? What if it was 1 MPG would you be happy with that? If your mileage suddenly dropped way down, would you be glad it did and not curious? Dropping a hundred bucks in the tank every week is something I'm willing to do just because this truck is so great, but, of course I wish it was only fifty. Why do you bother to shut your truck off? Leave it running 24/7 and keep pumping in the fuel.

If it happened suddenly, try a different fuel station. I've only been a CTD owner for about 14K miles, but I have noticed that the truck is pretty choosy on what/who's diesel it will burn most effciently. My truck seems to do best on Chevron but I can still find other stations for at least 10cents a gallon cheaper. The truck also seems to like Murphy (Wal-Mart down here) or Valero (formerly Diamond Shamrock). It currently has a tank of Shell "Premium Diesel" and I havent noticed any difference in performance or economy. What I have noticed is the engine is alot noisier though on the Shell. Drop in a can of Seafoam (in the fuel filter). Maybe you have some dirty injectors. Try the easy cheap stuff first.
BTW, I'm one of those folks who contantly "lie" about getting 20 mpg all the time and are not proficient with math skills either, or so its been suggested.

Maybe I will try a different fuel station. I have been putting in Loves Diesel ever since I bought it a little less than a year ago with 5500 miles. It now has about 12,500. Before I put the Rokktech on, I was getting about 15-16 highway and the most I got on the highway was 19.5. All this was recorded with the overhead computer. I will be getting 35's soon and don't want any worse fuel mileage than I'm getting now. I'll try switching fuels and see what happens.
