As I noted elsewhere here I just got a "new" 06, after years in a 97 CTD 4WD. Why does this truck have 2 controlers for shifting to 4WD? The owners manual notes both- but no instruction on the order of shifting? I have the floor shifter and the **** on the dash. The truck is a quadcab with auto transmission.

 

Someone must have installed a mannual shift on it.It most likely came from the factory with the electric on it.They never came with both.Does the electric transfer switch do anything?

 

Something isn't correct, its impossible to have dual controls.

depending where i am empty lot or street, ill drive in lo till it hit 20, put the truck and tfer case in neutral, wait for it to coast to 5 then put back in 2hi, has never bound up, i make sure im moving slow whenever i put in or take out 4wd

 

I'll take a pic and post same. They both look stone stock. I have not tried to shift it- wanted to find out the coorect process?
