Hmmm, if that's what you meant by twitching then it's not so clear cut. I thought you meant a constant fluctuation.

Keep in mind that I'm running an open bypass without a regulator, so my pressure readings could vary from others. The only time I see needle movement at idle is if something changes the voltage load on the alternator, say the grid heaters kicking in (that's an extreme example and causes a change of several #'s). Otherwise, I'd have to say my gauge is pretty steady at idle when all other conditions are constant.

Here is the snubber that I went with (the PS-8E). For $10 I considered it cheap insurance to protect the $50 sender.

I didn't get a chance to put the hose on mine yet but it twitches like made any time the engine is running. I'll change it out tonight but it sounds like Trik is having the same thing and he's got a long hose

I'm running the open bypass as well... We must be a couple of the original Walbro installers...
Mine only fluctuates at same conditions you mentioned. Otherwise it's pretty much at 19-20psi unless I mash the throttle.
Where did you mount this snubber? Right at the sender?

 

Trik, I'm running my gauge off the bottom of the fuel filter canister. First I have a banjo bolt, then the snubber, then the 30" rubber hose that loops up to the brake master cylinder area. There I installed a street-Tee on the rubber hose and ran the sender off the horizontal port, and plugged the vertical (top) port for bleeding air from the line. I secured this street-Tee to a custom bracket that I attached to one of the master cylinder mounting bolts. Works great, with no vibration problems at all.

And yes, I believe we were both Walbro beta-testers. I've got about 6,000 miles on mine without a single problem (obviously I don't drive the truck real often).

 

Wow... I thought I didn't drive that much. I've got about 20k on my Walbro setup without a hiccup. Sounds like we do have very similar setups... I'm going to buy the snubber for peace of mind anyway... Thanks for the link.

 

You're welcome for the link. There may be cheaper snubbers around, but that site was convenient to buy from. I was torn between buying that one or the heavy-oil model, but so far the light-oil one has worked fine for me.

Yeah, I just turned 33k miles on my '03 (I bought it used). I'm guessing it's one of the lower mileage units around, but I do plan to keep it for the next 30 years by only driving it about 7k miles per year.

 

Not to get off topic, but how is that people can only drive that few of miles a year? I put 30-40K a year on my truck, my wife puts 20K on her Jeep. Do ya'll live 1 mile from work and not leave the house

 

Actually, I live 50 miles from work and put on 30k miles per year. I just don't put all of those miles on my truck.
