Synthetic Or Traditional
Debating over synthetic or traditional oil. Been using Rotella 15-40 and chaning about every 7.5k. Is there aqny benefit to using synthetic and if so what is a good sythetic oil that can hold up to these power houses we call cummins?

I use Mobile Delvec synthetic. I'm firm believer in Syn. oils, tranny fluids, ext. I've used then in every vehical I have. My wife car has 90k on it and after 5000 miles oils still transparent. I've never sent in an oil sample to have tested after it use's but I know sevrals guys on here have.

I'm a royal purple man myself, but Amsoil is very proven. I just don't have the best access to it, and I get the purple for cheap. But I have used rotella and delo also before and I have noticed it loses its viscosity a little sooner than royal purple and I run it for 12000 miles with a wix filter (napa # 6240) If you intend on longer intervals or drive constantly, go synthetic, you wont regret it.

I just bought a bunch of AMSOIL stuff and will soon be putting it in. I will say, that my old 1994 Honda Civic (which I passed on to sister in-law about 4 years ago), got an oil change probably at an average of 7000-10000 miles, and it just turned over 210,000 miles and still running like a champ. I know a Honda 4 bange and CTD is different animal...but don't rule out dino oil.
Oh, I went 15W40 Amsoil. Is that OK?

First off, I use some amsoil products but don't beleive all the hype. Five years ago, I took the hook and soon found out all of their products are not what they advertise. I do still use some of their products though, just be careful and realistic.
