A strange shudder on take off!

I have 12,000 miles on my 05. We just got our first sustained cold snap last week. ( i know my cold snap isn't cold like some of ya'lls but the 30's is **** cold for my sub-tropical blood).
In my other thread you can see where i have been trying to find a stupid rattle so I am pretty in tune with what noises my truck makes and when it makes it.

On take off in 1st or 2nd with no load I get a shudder and a vibrating type noise, this noise isn't normal clutch noise and I don't pull often the truck is usually empty. I was beginning to believe it was a clutch problem but when I stop fairly quickly it does it on stopping also. It usualy right before the truck comes to a complete stop. It does it whether the clutch is engaged or disengaged! It also does it whether the truck is warm or cold! I got under the truck last night, all my U-joints appear to be OK and so does the center support bearing.

If this was the standard launch shudder wouldn't this noise occur all the time and have done it since new? What else could it be besides U-joints?
TIA!

have you all read this

http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/03-003-04.htm

I put a spacer on the bearing and it removed my shudder.

I did a lot research on shudder before I made my post! I had also looked at the TSB and it says only 03 04 models. Plus this just started Saturday. If it really was the problem wouldn't it have been doing this all the time and not just all of a sudden?

not sure they changed much between teh model years, but I did miss that in your sig. the year.

Mine also shook the truck so much I was not sure where it was comming from.

mine came up a couple years after the 35s, then went away. then a few months after the 37s, then I put the spacer in. no more shudder.

it is a easy fix to try, just get some aquare stock and grade 8 bolts and put it in and see if it goes away.

Could also be ujoints.

I do have a short bed but I also have a carrier bearing. Could be the difference between 4 wheel drive and 2 WD.

I don't know why but I do have the the stuoid carrier bearing!

all I know is when i started to have the launch and stop shudder, i thought it was everything else. you name it, I was getting ready to spend a few thousand dollars on stuff and tear the front end apart....

this is easy to modify and costs next to nothing to try.

sorry I missed the new truck info, ill go back to my hole now.

bet you a dollar its a U joint sticking.... Easy to tell if it is one of the 2 rears... Pull the 4 bolts that hold it on the rear differential and wiggle the u joints around... They should move freely.... If there is any popping or grinding then you have your problems 1/2 solved.

I've got a bad shudder AFTER towing 9k at interstate speeds for a hour or more and stopping and pulling off from a stop. After cool down it goes away.Dealer just dropped the back of my shaft and found nothing of issue.Mine does it through 1st and 2nd gear. Can pull that weight around 20 miles of stop and go traffic and no issues. After substained interstate speeds it gets bad!

I pulled driveshaft today.Took it to a driveline shop.I thought U/Joints felt ok and so did the driveline tech.I had him take them apart any way.Well I wasted $125 dollars, half tank of gas and half a day.Factory U/joints were perfect as was carrier bearing.Full of grease,no score marks,no hot spots, all needles in place etc.Now I have three new Splicer u/joints I didn't need. The shudder after towing 9k many miles at interstate speed has to be from the liminted slip/posi whatever.I did find one post from MAD DUC in the 6 month describing the very same issue.Said that going to 85w140 fixed his.But nothing in print says to use this weight lube in the diffs.I have Amsoil Severe Gear 80w90 in them now with about 10k on the gear oil.

Mine shudders when i shift from park to drive in my 06 with 48re. It doesnt have to be moving to shudder but sometimes it will do the same thing when pulling off or coming to a stop. So in my case I cant see how it could be driveshaft or u joints making the noise if they arent moving.
