Straight Pipe Idea

I am TELLING you that it has a ricer type sound..."BBBRRRRRRAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP"...only at a certain RPM....well, I say that, but I am listening from inside the truck. INSIDE it sounds like a ricer. Not sure outside since I have not had the wife try to make it do it. I can get the sound everytime at 1500 RPM.
I wish some of you men lived closer to me so I could let you hear it.
Oh yeah, it is VERY loud...I try to be easy on the pedal.
FWIW
JKE

I grew up appreciating the sound of a V8. It is a beautiful sound. The sound of a 4-cylinder "ricer" is gross to me.....but I didn't grow up in the "ricer" era. To the younger folks who have, they probably like the sound the same way I like the sound of a V8.
I'm guessing a similar thing happens with a diesel. I've never owned a diesel and the other day when I heard what was most likely a "straight pipe" diesel pickup.....I couldn't stand it. I didn't grow up around the sound so it is different to me and as the minority has stated on this thread, it does sound like a "ricer". But that's just my opinion.
After I get my truck (still is storage!!!!!!!!) and experimenting with some performance upgrades, I'm sure the straight-pipe sound will grow on me and I will learn to appreciate it similar to the way I like the sound of a V8.
Here's a quote from a Mustang bulletin board that I frequent:
Pony: "Do you do your own wrenchin?"
Ricer: "Wrenchin?"
Pony: "Yeah, you know, do you put the stickers on yourself?"
It's all how you were brought up.

As far as I know only the 94-98 12 valves had cats. When they went to 24 valves they were able to get away without cats. The 2004 600 will appearently have a cat again. (I am glad that at least the 600 will be able to get by with a cat and avoid EGR)
If I am wrong on any of this, someone please correct me. I am only repeating what I have heard elsewhere.

I went by a Texas State Trooper that had this other guy pulled over poor guy the trooper apparently didn't like that Ford diesel. When I started to get close to where they were he looked at my truck and he nodded at me. Guess he liked the sound
