Stock air box help

Hi everyone. Thanks to a member here I am replacing the K/N cone filter my truck came with and putting the stock air box back on

its an 03 2500 High output if it matters

I have 4 questions related to the stock airbox. Since I've never seen one installed, I need to know how they are supposed to be originally.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1) Does the 90degree rubber connector boot clamp directly onto the turbo? I fear the turbo may run too hot, and wondered if the factory had some type of heat insulator or just hooked the rubber connector direct?

2) Where the square air box connects to the inner metal fender, I have a 1/2inch gap when the box is bolted in. Is there supposed to be some type of rubber boot, or foam t create a seal and force fresh air rather than under hood air into the intake?

The sensor for the ambiant air temperature obviously screws on as the air exits the filter box. My sensor still has the O'ring on it, but when I install it it doesn't fit down flush into the housing. There is a small gap of about 1/8th inch. Is there supposed to be a gasket or spacer between the sensor and corresponding hole?

#4 last one.

The diffuser looks like it could mount in either direction. I see a small single arrow on one end, and a double arrow on the other. Which way is the diffuser supposed to point?

here is a picture:

Thanks a TON everyone!

1.The fit to the turbo is correct. Not much heat on that side of the turbo.

2. The air box will have the gap, the factory had some foam on the fender liner that rot's off. Get some stick on foam at the hardware store if you want but doubt it matters much.

3. The sensor should fit flush, no gasket. Lube the Oring and it should push down flush.

4. The diffuser should have a thick plastic edge at one end which should be at the top.

Hope that helps

That Helps a TON!
thank you... its very reassuring to hear how its supposed to be and I really appreciate it!

On my diffuser, I'm not seeing that one side is any more thick on the edge than the other

I also failed to ask #5
- where does the restriction gauge plug into the stock air box? my K/N had a resettable restriction meter/gauge... that I assume is a stock dodge part and goes into the stock system. I didn't see where to plug it in, but need to look everything over more closely in case I missed it.

I would second everything dslbrnr01 said. I would add get a "deep plete" air filter from napa. The restriction gauge goes onto the side of the top removable part of the air box.
I had mice gettin into the air box so i installed a "screen" at the inlet on the fender well. Keep the foam seal.
I also added my own "home depot" air tube. Just because it only cost 10.00$ to get all the air that will ever be needed.
PS everyone should own a shop mannual for there truck.
Also I think the stock box is as good or better then anything I have seen.

thank you
good ideas

where is an affordable source for a full manual?
I've got the haynes but it leaves something to be desired and caters to the gas engine.

When I looked at the outside of my defuser tube, one end had a thick plastic ridge which was positioned at the top.
