stock 48RE Question
I just got back from a deer hunting trip alwost up by new mexico. alot of switch back and long grades pulling almost 11k with a stock 2004. Had to pull alot of those long grades in gear 2 with tow haul on doing no more then 45mph.
Will this hurt my tranny in the long? according to the manual i should be able to use that gear to pull but it doesn't say for how long. when pulling in drive with tow haul on it seemed to lug motor.

Im not tranny expert, but im sure you are fine. These 48RE transmissions are tuff, just not very efficient in stock form. They need a much better Torque Converter and Valve body to put the power to the ground.

That is an excellent idea. If you have the spare funds and don't plan any big power modifications an aftermarket Torque Converter and Valve Body will help put the power to the ground. I would suggest you contact DTT or Goerends about those.

Your converter locks in second when the shifter is in that position? That is a good idea but I don't think mine locks in second and would like it to.
Does anybody have manual control over their converter locking?

I have really never thought about it before but how to you make the converter lock up. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. I know the 06's are a little diff in regards to Tow/Haul and OD/Off , but how do i make the coverter lock?
