Stock 04.5 EGT's ?

High all.I have a stock 04.5 QC,SRW,4X4, with 35"X 12.50 tires,& no cat,& free flow muffler.I'm showing 1100 degrees EGT's when pulling a heavy load,& my water temp climbs to about 210 degrees. These EGT's are after the turbo. The pyro is located in the cast iron down pipe about 4" from the turbine outlet. Is this too hot? What to do about it?

wow, that is too hot, 1100 degrees post turbo is close to 1300-1400 degrees preturbo. a cold air intake will help alot, along with aftermarket exhaust system, but from there, i can't help you out because i have an ancient 12v so someone else is gonna have to chime in.

That's pretty hot, but if it's stock CPU then I'd just run it. a cold air intake will help cool it down a bit if your concerned.

That seems way to hot for a stock truck!! my 04 can't hit 1100 no matter what I do when the chip is off and mine is pre turbo. 210 water temp is too hi , mine never goes above 195 on a hot day pulling 30,000 with the chip on. I wonder if your pyro is accurate?? Do you have a boost gauge?

Yes.My
X-Moniter reads a max boost of 32.4 psi.It usually runs about 30 psi thoe.I'm also wondering if the pyro's accurate.I'll test it next weekend. However I've read a few other threads from other sites,& some people are reading allmost as high as I am.I don't know if they're talking about pre turbo,or post turbo thoe.Is your truck an 04,or 04.5?

210 water temp is not even close to derate, your fine with your temps, if you start heading over 222 then I would start worrying. as far as EGT , these engine can handle more then the previous gens. I dont know how accurate your probe is.

my truck is a 04 with the 555 engine I was just stating that I never see water temp above 195 on my engine. Your pyro must be inacurate you take 1100 post turbo add 300 est. for your pre turbo temp 1400 I think that is just too hot in my opinion for a stock truck to be running with that temp you couldn't run a box if you wanted to.I run my tst on 3/3 pulling and it takes a good hill to hit 1350.
You should reconsided putting it preturbo. It is just as easy as post turbo. use a small magnet to get all the fileings out. But it is just probably a bad pyro! if it is under warranty I would ask for a new one.

Bigwheel , , grab a laptop and run insite and turn it on to data monitor and watch that the fan doesnt even come on till 215 to start the cycle, also its up to the OEM to install a pyro... most dont, it uses other parameters and it will derate at what they consider a phantom number being 1400 egt at the turbo.

I agree.I'm considering placing the thermocouple pre turbo, but I was concerned about the placement of the turbo. On my engine it's a straight drop into the turbine from the manifold.I was also concerned about the manifold cracking around the hole.I have heard that it can happen to the older engines.

I have been told several times that the ISB engines use proprietary programing & my INSITE program won't work.Have you used INSITE on an 04.5 engine?I simpilly haven't tryed it.

your right on that part , you cant communicate with insite on the CM848 , but the programming of the CM850 is not that different. if you work for a Cummins Dealer.... next time the DFSE comes around , ask him. he should be able to provide you with some answer.
