Starting/cranking takes longer sometimes

Its happened a few times in the last month, but i have had to turn the key over to start 3-4 times and then it fires. Usaully it starts on the first try. it is a 2006,5.9, with 85,000 miles.

Is it getting cold where you are? I'm used to mine starting by barely clicking the key over but as it gets colder it is slightly longer.

Do you see white smoke when it takes longer? Is it cranking normal speed or slower?

Have your batteries checked out if you haven't replaced them yet. I just replaced mine. What a difference.

Ok Batteries is also my next guess.

But still, what about---- Do you see white smoke when it takes longer? Is it cranking normal speed or slower?

If the starter is cranking over fast enough, I wouldn't sweat the batteries. Sounds like you don't have enough rail pressure , maybe an injector is leaking it out, and back to the tank, or if it smokes white, into the cylinder. If you unplug the fca, it will give your CP3 pump full pressure, but the computer does that anyway for so many seconds after attempting to start. If you had a rail pressure gauge , you'd know more. If it did it all the time, you could cap of each injector connector at the rail one at a time, until it started fine on 5 cylinders, then you'd know which injector it could possibly be leaking down. They sell the cap off nut at Geno's.
