Stanadyne and Fuel Milage
Just wanted to post and let everyone know that Stanadyne Performance Formula really does pay for itself. I was getting between 15.5 and 16 mpg average once the cold weather set in. The cold weather caused a drop around 1 mpg average . I ordered a years supply of Stanadyne about 115 dollars with shipping, and with one tank full went up to a solid 17.5 mpg. That's anywhere from 34-68 extra miles per tankfull, which not only pays for itself, but could save an additional 3-5 bucks per tank full. I strongly recommend this stuff- it really makes sense. Cost me about 4.25 per bottle after shipping, and I'm sold on it. I'm hoping that after the engine breaks in and the winter blend of fuel is gone, to get 20mpg. Right now have 3k miles on the truck.

I use Stanadyne PF year around, and have had similar results. I usually figure between 0.5 to 1.0 mpg better with it than without. I am sure there are other benefits, but I can't really quantify them very well.
The lubricity beneifts are why I started using it on my 99. I wanted to do everything I could to help the VP-44 live a long and productive life. I can't say really if it did help, but I got 142,000 out of the original. Didn't pierce the wire or anything, so that wasn't an issue. It did feed a set of Don M's showerheads for a while though!
I get it for around $4 a bottle by the case in Indy. It certainly pays for itself, especially with diesel prices hovering at $2 to the gallon.

My local Dodge dealership's diesel mech recommended one application every 4 tanks. The injector shop techs said use it every tank full.."diesel fuel is hell on your pumps and injectors, and never use any conditioner that has alcohol. So thats what I'm going to do. We will see how long my pumps last. I'll keep you all posted as time marches on. Happy New Year too!
