squeak when truck starts moving?
This is kind of strange to me. I've recently noticed (warmer weather, windows down) that every time I start moving forward, my truck squeaks. Almost sounds like jumping on a squeaky bed. By the time I get to 5 or 10 mph, I can't hear it anymore, mostly because of the engine and wind noise. I'm wondering if it could be the U-joints people have had problems with. Anyone know if they'll make a squeaking noise if they're going bad?

I had the problem coming from my front passenger side suspension. It was the top spring isolater and all I had to do was spray a little lubricant on thee and it went away. It comes back every now and then. I just spray it and it goes away for a while.
I had to get out of my truck and shake it back and forth and follow it around to figure it out, but that is what it came down to.

A u-joint will make that type of sound when they are stiff and binding. The best way to check them is to drop the drive shaft and flex the joint. Sometimes the bad cup on the joint will spit out a rust trail out the seal. Good luck

I would say it is a U joint as well. I would drop the shaft and check them as well. I have had to replace 2 in 100K. If it is just starting to go the joint will probably be really hard to move.

I agree with a u-joint being the culprit - drop the driveshaft and you will probably be able to locate the bad one pretty easy - put in Spicers, they have a pretty good rep, something about these Dodges eats u-joints (maybe its all the raw torque )
good luck and let us know what you find

As I posted in another thread, my problem started out exactly like that: a squeak as I started rolling. After a few hundred miles it was a severe shudder: frozen U-joint, complete driveline replacement, fortunately under warranty.

I had that same problem last week and the dealer replaced the entire upper control arm (right). Problem went away. Now it seems the problem has shifted to the other side. I may try to spray some lube on the upper spring support (left) to see if that fixes it once it stops raining here. While it was in the shop it seemed as if they were easter egging on what the problem was. Two weeks before they replaced the tie rod (right) only for them to realize that was nont the problem. I too feel they should have grease fittings as not to have this problem.

i had the same problem tuesday morning went to go to work and i noticed a sqeak i thought it was ladders on the racks so i unloaded at work and still had the sqeak. So i took it in and by the time i got off the interstate it was jumping got there dropped the shaft rear u joints were locked up tight so we replaced all of them.theservice manager is a friend of mine and he told me these u joints are going out between 20,000 and 25,000 miles my truck has 22000.I got them to do them all instead of doing them one at a time when they go out and your loaded. They also told me it is the same u joints that in the duramax they went to these in the 04's.I guess the cummins is to much.

I ruled u-joints out. As mine will do it just sitting still turning the wheel left and right. I can also push down on the front end and hear the same sound. Yesterday took the cake for me, both sides are squeeking really bad. My luck has it the service guy called yesterday while I had the truck jacked up to see how I felt about my last visit and I told him "hold on", I put the phone up to the front end and let him hear how I felt about the service. I took 30 minutes of my time to spray wd-40 on all the front end components, then took some Bel-Ray
o-ring safe chain lube and sprayed all the same components. Did'nt completely solve the problem, but it did help. It also steers much easier now. I also felt it may be the rack and pinion set, but I can't be to sure of it.

Update: U-joints are fine...
Center support bearing isn't. They're ordering a whole new drive shaft! Wow....
Now I'm worried about acquiring the dreaded "death wobble". Are the new shafts coming out OK or is this something I'm going to have to watch out for?
