Speedo Recailibration

I would like to recalibrate the speedo since I put on the 315/70s. Does the dealer do this or due I have to buy a True Speed ? If it has no harmfull affects on this auto trans I can live with it being off 5 mph.

The dealer should be able to reset the speedo with the OBD. Only problem is finding a dealer smart enough to know how. Only takes at the most 5-10 minutes, free to 30.00. The truspeed works well and is adjustable for differant tires, cost 175.00.

My local dealer did mine for free twice... Falls under the "Good will policy".

Take it to the dealer, tell them to look under the "other" menu. Then tell them the revolutions per mile that your tire turns and have them plug that number in. You should be set.

I talked to Superlift today and someone in Tech told me there is no TruSpeed out yet for the 04. The 03 TruSpeed doesen't work either he told me. However they are working on the 04 model. Looks like I have to go to the dealer too.

My dealer stuck me for $89.00 to recalibrate mine!! I wasn't even going to do it but I was having some trans shifting problems and I was sure they wouldn't do anything without it being reset...

Yeah, I didn't get the good will policy either. My dealership sucks.

First two dealers I called would not do it (including the dealer who sold me the rig). The third did it for me but charged me $80.

Got mine done the other day after putting on 315's. It's nice to have a cousin that is the Cummins tech at the local Dodge dealer. He just grabbed the computer and went out to were I was parked. Five minutes later my pinion factor was set to 601. It's adjustable from 400(stock) to 900.

$80 is still far better than $200 for the tru speed.

Until you change tire sizes 4 more times, then the truespeed has paid for itself

is there any advantage to the TruSpeed other than being able to reset your speedo at will?

Im getting my 38's soon and would much rather spend 80 bucks instead of 200

thanks
jeff

My dealer charged me $42.50 (1/2 hour labor) for 10 minuites work and 20 minuites of BS It really should be a free service. Next time I see the owner around town I'm going to let him know what I think. For what it's worth

Truespeed is great for those who have a winter set and a summer set of tires, there's a switch to switch between the two settings.

Disadvantages:

You have to splice into the wiring harness with the Truespeed,
chance of connections coming loose, or corroding.

Extra box dangling under the dashboard.

Another electronic gizmo that can go bad.
