South Bend vs Luk
#2
Not in an 03 but I put a SB Con O in my 97 and it was great. The 97 flywheel was made with about .0015 crown in it and SB recommended grinding it flat, so I did. I don't know about the 03 flywheel. Better check it out before you do the clutch job. Craig

My stock clutch was great....until the pressure plate quit holding. I pulled around 25k lbs everyday for a couple of years. When I pulled the clutch, the clutch plate itself was still in great shape. Went ahead and installed a SB Con OFE and it's been a great clutch until a couple months ago. Started hearing a knocking sound in the bellhousing....thought it was the throw-out bearing so I replaced it only to find out it's something else with the clutch/pressure plate itself. Makes noise until you push the clutch pedal in. Not sure about the Luk brand of clutches but will be purchasing a Valair setup this Friday....a little cheaper than the SB.

I don't think you can compare the two. Lary is good with this stuff. Call him at 877-375-1956 and he will help you out. That's the dtr store number. One brand is a knock off of the other and you need to know the real scoop before making a purchase.
