Something is slipping under a load. . .
I was putting away my 5th wheel (10k lbs) last weekend. I have to go up over a curb and a small embankment (approx 1' - 1.5') up onto my driveway to get a straight shot at my parking area. I got the trailer completely up onto the driveway and the truck was perched partly on the driveway and partly on the adjacent dirt (horse trail). I stopped to make some corrections, then restarted my backing up. I started pressing the throttle and the engine would rev but nothing moved. I stepped a little harder . . . same thing. I didn't see or hear any tire spin. I probably could have rolled forward a bit, went back into reverse and gotten it to move with a little more of a running start. But, instead, I tried slipping it into 4w-hi and it went right out of there without a problem.
My guess is that either my transmission/tc was slipping or the limited slip was failing to deliver power to either wheel (is that even possible?). After describing this to a friend, I was advised that I should always use 4wd-lo for this kind of activity since it minimizes the stress on the transmission. Is that true?
What do you think was slipping or why it wouldn't go? If the trans was slipping, that does not bode well for the 48re.
Thanks,
Neil

Definately the loose torque converter.
They have the stall set way too high for the low revving Cummins.
I have a hard time just backing the truck over a curb, letalone trying to push a trailer at the same time.
