softening springs on 2500

Has anybody had any experience on reducing the stiffness of a 2500. I bought a 2007 5.9, 4 wheel drive, to pull my trailer with. The trailer weighs about 5000 lbs. The truck has very little travel on the springs and it is almost impossible to "distribute" the weight with the hitch. Is it logical or possible to remove some sections of spring to get a little more bounce when it hits a bump. Or is the whole idea wrong?.

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. I would suggest looking at Thuren, Kore, or Carli for leaf packs that replace the overload.

I cut off the ends of the bottom overloads. That really helped on the big bumps! Craig
