Smog check Calif.

Failed my Calif smog today. I took off my TST and cfm intake beforehand. I did not have a CEL but the code reader showed a p2609 "grid heater performance". I had the grid heaters disconnected for a long time. Disconnected the batteries for an hour, no CEL but P2609 code shows up on OBD code reader and i am unable to clear the code. I think it's some kind of imbedded code since I had the grid heaters disconnected for so long.
Any ideas on how to clear this code. Again, I have no CEL light.Thanx

I reinstalled the stock intake manifold /grid heater. The grid heater was completely hooked up and returned to stock form for the smog test. It operates and does not throw a CEL but when it is hooked up to a OBD reader it shows a code of "P2609" that cannot be cleared..........

I'll try a different code reader. The P2609 is a manufactor specific code, Maybe it takes a newer code reader to clear this type of code?

Did some more troubleshooting today........The OAT was 75-80 degrees. Should the grid heaters activate? The grid heater dash light does not illuminate during start and there was no voltage drop. I checked both grid heater solenoinds and they activate/click, send amps to the grid heaters when I apply 12V to them.
The ECM seems to be only be applying 3.6V to the solenoids vs the necessary 12V when I checked the signal wires during start. Is there a relay between the ECM and grid heater solenoids?

The grid heaters are set to come on at 57 degrees.

remove both battery cables on BOTH batteries. have a buddy get on one side, you on the other. touch the pos & neg cables together. discharges capacitors within the ECM and will clear your code from history. you will have to go drive for a lil while (sometimes 50 miles) to reset adaptive's before you can go retest.

just make sure ALL 4 CABLES ARE REMOVED FROM THE BATTERY BEFORE DOING THIS!

Well I finally passed the smog check. Had to bring the truck into the dealer to have the KO1 flash done. After the flash I checked for codes and they were all cleared! The speedo is off for my large tires, didn't think to remind them to keep the previous tire size setting.
The vehicle registration notice says " proof of correction certificate required". All I got was the completed work order. Do I need to send that in? Thanx for all the help on the forum.

Weird. I had my truck(2006) smogged last night and the tech never was prompted to even hook up to the computer.
Look under hood, look under truck, blip throttle three times, wait 8 minutes, pass.

I feel sorry for people that are paying $90 for that.
