smell oil
i just changed my oil again, and every time i drive i seem to smell oil burning, like if it were dripping onto hot exhaust or something. i have been under the truck a couple of times now, and no drips. i can see the blow by pipe is wetter then normal, and it seems that maybe the rear main seal might be leaking a wee bit.
is this normal for these engine to have more blow by as they get older?
i have about 240,000kms on this engine now, seems to still run strong.i run Amsoil all the time, and i just did the cheap oil change for 4000kms to give it that flush of any sludge or black ness that seems to build up inside the engine. now i just put in the Amsoil and get this smell every once in a while.
is the rear main seal an easy chage, or does the motor have to come apart?
i am getting tranny work done with in the month, so i figure if the seal comes out with out ripping into the motor i will get it done at the same time, since the tranny will be out.

thanks, i haven't put any miles on it since the oil change, but never really noticed it before. does any one know if that rear mail seal can be changed when the tranny is out, or does the engine have to come out??
the leak is not bad at all, just don't want problems down the road, thanks in advance
