Small Coolant Leak?

Anyone seen this leak on their trucks? I think this is the rubber connector on the line going to the heater core. Correct me if I'm wrong. Do you think it would be covered under the engine warranty?

06's seem to always do that. Usually tightening down the clamps is all that is needed.

Later trucks come with spring type clamps and a different hose.

Page 2 on this thread shows the newer parts.

I don't know if it would be covered under engine warranty, or not, but for most just snugging down the clamps cures it.

Be thankful that tightening the clamps worked. Changing out the hose was a real PIA for me. I'm sure others have done it easier. What should have taken minutes turned into several hours of knuckle busting and grunting to get the new hose in without screwing it up. And even then, I had to go back later and re-tighten the clamps. Might be due to my advancing age and inflexability.

That hose is a real pain in the butt. According to a post I read on it it is a 3hr job at the dealer.

I did mine last week because the old one was leaking. The new hose is a silicone and the clamps are spring for better fit during expansion and contraction of the pipes. You'll eventually need to replace it.

Haven't done mine yet, but it does "seep" a little in the winter. Just a few drops, no big deal, just "snug" up the hose clamps every year. When it comes time to change out the coolant, I'll change out that hose section and replace the clamps. Not looking forward to that because I know the location of it will make the change out a pain in the rear!

Yeah, I figured I will change mine out when it is due for coolant change.

It looked like pulling the inner fender liner might make access easier.

You'll need to do that to get another angle of attack. Between the top, fender and bottom I got the hose switched out.

I'm gonna have to replace this thing, dealer wants 216.00 to do it. Any advice on where to get replacement hose that is better than factory.

i had to replace mine about a year ago. the hose was like 20-30 bucks from dodge. its def a PIA but i was able to do it with out removing the fender. used some wd-40 to help it slide on without ripping. just spray the inside of the hose and both hard lines and use a twisting motion as you roll it on. i thought of fabbing up a little heat shield for it on the turbo side, but havent got around to doing it.

Just did mine a couple of months ago. My whole hose blew apart Good thing I had my Edge J/A alert turned on to go off at 220* on the engine temp. Lost all my coolant on cruising down the highway. Talk about a mess under the truck I was able to limp the truck another 2 miles to the next exit where there just happened to be a Pep Boys. Took me about 2 hours in the dark to get that PIA fixed.

They charge that for a reason. It is a royal pain lol

Get the new hose and clamps from the dealer. The parts have been upgraded. I paid $28 for both clamps and new silicone hose.

Hose: 05179114AB
Clamps (2): 05179115AA

For those that have replaced this hose, how much, if any, coolant is lost during the process?

Thanks

I just changed mine last week; Tightening did no good at all. No one had the part in town, had to go to the dealership here in Alamogordo, 24 bucks for this POS. Also because it took some time to change and loosened many parts, had to replace almost 3 gallons of fluid. And yes mine is a 06 also,

I didnt even think about trying the fender deal....wished I had of..
