I tried the fix on mine, and it works like a charm. Don't trust the dealer not to flash your truck and put the reverse honk in. I warned them 3 times not to do mine,they assured me they wouldn't,I even signed an affidavit for them declining the flash, and they did it anyway.

I have had mine flashed before and the tech knew exactly which flash not to intstall....LOL It's the BCM flash from what I remember will get you.

Hope you have better luck than I did. I was fit to be tied.....even talked to the owner and let him know encase someone else might benefit from my experience.

Would it not be just as easy to have a kill switch mounted on the dash, then just turn off the horn while backing up?
Just thinking out loud.

Well they did it mostly for trucks like mine sometimes you can pull it into gear without depressing the brake. I hate the honk it drives me nutz and is embarassing.

reverse honk

I wonder if one could do the wiring trick but then add another door switch and re-route the interior light signal to the new door switch.

might even be able to use the existing switch

The goal would be to always have the signal for the door open taken care of but not so far as to disable the interior lights.

thanks for posting the fixes guys...
this was the only thing I hated about my truck
I can live without the int. light coming on when the d side door is opened....small price to pay for getting rid of this frustrating feature
