I just checked my truck for codes the other day, thanks to the info on this site (none found). I was wondering, do I need to check on a regular basis, or if there ever is a code, will it show on the odometer when I start the truck?

 

What were you checking "p" or "c" codes?
If your check engine light comes on most likely you'll have a "p" code, Do the ignition key thing 3 times, if its a soft code after it reads "done" the check engine light will reset itself after a few successful starts, if the check engine light doesn't turn off then you have a problem and need to take in in to the dealer.

I don't check for codes unless its a new customer that is not in our system.

 

The codes won't show in the odometer window after starting the truck.

The only time you really need to check for codes is if the Check Engine Light is on or if you think something isn't working right. But it's free to do the check so go ahead and do it whenever you want. The DIY check for codes won't show all codes though. Some codes can only be read with the scan tool at Dodge.

 

Just out of curiosity I did the key switch thing and I got codes p0216 and p1693. The dealer replaced both LP and VP this week. Did they forget to reset it? Or do I need to make a phone call......
New pumps seem to be working and Truck runs fine.
