signs of turbo failure?

ive been reading around and just figured id see what the signs of turbo failure were? i have a squeaking sound under acceleration that is noticeable, even over my exhaust. it goes away when you lay into here but when you are cruising you can hear it. i was told it could be the exhaust hangars, and i sprayed they with some lube and still hear it. i noticed that after shut off you can hear kind of a grinding sound, like metal scraping metal. just wonder what i should look for. whats it sound like to you? thanks for your help.

Pull the tube off the front fo the turbo and look for any damage, like missing teeth, high wear spots and things like that. Also feel of the shaft for end play and side to side play. If any then you may have a problem. Then the question is are you still under warranty and if so time for a trip to the dealer. Other wise maybe time for a newer/bigger one.

There's a decent section on inspecting the turbo and measuring the axial and radial play in the Dodge service manual. I don't think I'm allowed to post it here (copyright?) but if you can get your hands on it, it may be beneficial.
