Maybe try resetting it with the little hole next to the selector? But then it might get stuck in neutral then your truck really wont go anywhere. But then again it may work?

Unless you whacked it hard enough to break something in the drivetrain or bent the frame, it's probably just packed full of snow, now ice and won't switch over. Is the undercarriage packed full of snow? I've had vehicles that you couldn't shift back to park or reverse because of so much snow in the undercarriage.

Also check the connector/wiring from the switch to the TC. You may have torn something loose in the circuit.

gave that a try, but found no button in the hole using a long micro screw driver just went all the way in (when i key on, all the lights come on including the red N, then go out leaving the 4 lo only on..

Ummm....turn it in to your insurence. Pay the deductable and have it all fixed. Don't pay the dealer. I'm sure the dealer price will be the price of your deductable. Good luck.

thanks! thats what I will end up doing,
after further research and a diagnostic with the tec computer.. it appears something was damaged INSIDE the xfer case beyond electronics,
the tech could not get it into any other setting manually.

total estimate for the body repairs is 6.5K plus whatever the xfer case work will be... so thats that

on the good side.. my truck will look brand- new (on one whole side) including a rear bumper the paint previouly had lots of scratches and dings.
now it will look half new! instead of all- very used...

thanks for all your guys help and tried al suggestions!
roll on!

Ask body shop how much to fix it all and pay the difference for a new looking truck!

Complain till they paint the whole truck.

On a side note: you would have been better off spinning out .

Also, I thought snow was soft .

And I wasted all my time and energy keeping my truck clean and dent free. I should have bought a banged up truck and drove it into a snow pile, so I could get a new body an paint job. We have plenty of snow piles in the rust belt.

Only in movies. It may be soft sometimes but it gets hard enough after it sits a while that sometimes you can drive a vehicle on it. If its been moved at all with a blower or plow it can get hard as concrete.

This is very true.. I just had some damage to my truck repaired.. I was backing into my driveway, and got too close to a snow burm that was on one side of the driveway, dented the lower rocker panel of the truck, from the bed all the way forward and on both doors. Snow that's been moved by a snowplow is generally hard as concrete.

Big hail is worse......we had a good dose of it here last July. $120 mil + in various property/vehicle claims to my town. Nice short term stimulus package to the glass/autobody/roof companies.
