Jrussell I think you misunderstood me. I don’t drain my water separator at every fill up. When I said “when I can”, I was saying that I drain it when I have the time. Per suggestions from this site, I put an extension on the hose so its pretty easy to put the bottle (old glass catsup bottle that I keep in my garage) under the truck. I like to be able to see if there is any water or sediment in it. The “waste” fuel goes into an old metal Coleman fuel container that we use to start fires with.
I do appreciate your zeal in trying to get the “green” message across. With that said, if I ever did get into a situation where I thought my truck was failing due to water I would probably immediately drain the thing even if I couldn’t catch it because the amount of pollution and resources needed to make new injectors and such far outweigh the small amount of fuel I would lose.
