is the new "ENGINE RUN" light on the 06?

my 04 was acting up, traded it for an 06, and guess what?

got the SES this morning at crank up

what kind of rebates do the 06 Duramax's have?

I dunno about the rebates, they're probably pretty good. I personally think you're on the right track-give the duramax a try. I've never heard of anyone having trouble out of those myself.

If the LBZ is the only duramax available then no, it isn't.

Yeah, totally excludes the Diesel. That would be like getting a diesel for the price of a gasser. That would be a sweet deal.

Anyhow, trading an 06 for an 06 or 07 is going to be a losing proposition, no two ways about it.

Oh, and that's what the factory warranty is for. Could be something simple.

What do you consider "acting up" in regards to your 04?

do yourself a favor and PULL THE CODES!!! It probably is nothing more than a blip in the ECU that caused the light to say good morning. I have had that in my 06 and then it never returned...

My idiot light comes on in cold weather. I have two soft codes that hit when its below 40. They never cause the truck to run bad. Just check the codes and then clear them. If it is a serious code get it fixed undr your warranty - if it is a soft code take note and check the frequency of it showing up. The duramaxipad will have little issues also

You're the only one that has gotten it and said so. I figure it this way: Most times, when people come on dodge boards and say something about buying a ford or a chevy, they have obviously not done nearly a reasonable amount to get their problem fixed. Those threads generally end up with a bunch of people practically begging them to stick with dodge, please try this and please try that, etc. I get the feeling that much of this is done for amusement, to watch people fall all over themselves trying to help. So, to me, simply agreeing with them and recommending they try whatever different brand it is they mention is the elegant solution. It's hard for someone to keep arguing with you when you agree with them right off the bat-they REALLY look ridiculous if they do. Quick and easy way to get them to go away. And, if they WEREN'T being a troll, you haven't offended them. After all, you AGREED with them...

You want to trade your new truck because the check engine light came on? Worse things are going to happen, brace yourself. GM vehicles are garbage.

Check out the Duramax forums before considering GM.

440, love ya for stating the obvious.

with the complexity of modern vehicles and their miles of wiring, multitude of sensors, various ecms having to interact with each other, you almost have to accept small glitches. NASA keeps the shuttle in the air, and look at that things track record.

a cel light without any driveability issues is very minor compared to injectors, blown head gaskets, VG turbos sticking, etc. be grateful you own the engine with the least amount of parts in it. cummins has been so successful because the eliminated as many parts, gaskets as they could. cast in oil cooler passages instead of crossover pipes under the intake and turbo like the other 2. LEAKS. aluminum heads on iron blocks. LEAKS. the list could go on, but my fingers are getting tired.

stick with the CTD.

I've had 3 CELs in 1800 miles in my 07 but it keeps on running fine. Of course, I've done a bit of work to mine and my truck apparently wishes I hadn't added all the fun extras...

I got the joke BTW. I just didn't want to post just to be posting.

04CTD, It'll get better.....
