Being we set a record low of -31 below overnight I wanted to see how well my truck would start with out it being plugged in. I can say I only let the grid heater cycle one time and it stated like it normally does. I did notice that it ran some what ruff for about 15 seconds until the grid heater cycled on for the second time and after that it ran smooth at 1000 rpm's and no loping of any kind when I kicked it off high idle about 45 seconds after start up to see how it would idel at that cold temp.

Seriously??? Your 06' must be a totally different animal than my 05'.

Nothing about my -5 degree start was normal sounding... I run synthetic in the sump also...

Hmmm... anyway, I don't/won't do that again unless absolutely necessary.

I am running the Amsoil Synthetic...15x40... I think I am gonna swith next time to 5x40.. Sounds like people are having good luck with that...

Took truck tp dealer and they are replacing the lift/transfer pump in tank... They said it is bad and thats why mine will stumble most times when I go to start it... We'll see!!

Well, they said they put the newest flash in and went they went to restart they duplicated the long crank/ stumble I have been complaining about and said they were able to test the system which pointed them to the lift/transfer pump... Personally I don't think it is the problem and not happy about the whole deal... But, I just want it fixed.... They are cool with a truck having mods and all and that is hard to find a dealer that doesn't have prejudice from the start... I trust the tech, he is real big into sled pulling and high performance stuff, he really seemed like he wanted to fix the problem for me... So hopefully they can get it worked out SOON!!

I'm not sure if it's an '05 thing. Mine definitely has a wathump, wathump, wathump type of bouncing lope to it when it starts cold. It normally only does it when it's near 0 F outside, unless it isn't plugged in.

This is the third winter with my truck . I run Rotella 5w 40 syn. oil and have never plugged my truck in . I drive it every day and it sits outside in the open . When it is below zero it starts a little harder than normal but idles smooth . My truck seems to run better in the cold than the summer heat .
