servicing hubs on 04 4x4
Tried doing a search on this, but didn't get too far. Does an 04.5 even have serviceable front hubs or is the switch to four wheel drive done in the transfer case? I understand the front bearings are a sealed unit and a pain to get out.

The switch to 4wd is made only in the transfer case. The hubs, front diff. and the drive shaft that runs back to the transfer case turn any time the truck is moving. Cheap but not very fuel efficient.

I grease mine through the ABS sensor hole but its not listed as a routine maintenance procedure anywhere
The replacements are outlasting the originals so far, but not by much, yet. Time will tell I guess.

I have 165,000kms on my front Hubs and I havent serveced them ever.
I am just going to buy new hubs from the dealership instead of trying to tinker around and fixing the old ones.
