Thumbs up Schaeffer's SoyShield

Came across a few bottles on the shelf at local Napa...bought them all and thought I would try it....

I couldn't believe even from the first 100 miles on the tank how much quieter the engine was, all the ticking/clattering I had on acceleration is now completely gone...I thought my ears were playing tricks on me!

This truck has had fuel additive, usually powerservice, in every tank except 1 since it was new, and I still always had that nearly subaudible ticking/pinging/clatter that I never could identify except maybe as valves or injector noise, and now it's gone.

Too early to tell if there is much to be gained mileage wise, but I also have noticed there is no longer a puff of black smoke when I get on her as I head out of town anymore. Acceleration doesn't seem much perkier but is perhaps smoother.

I will report back if I am able to discern much of a difference in MPGs. Think I will also try it now in wife's Jetta TDI and a couple of our tractors.

SoyShield is a soy based diesel fuel additive from Schaeffer's, the 2nd largest US producer of diesel fuel additives. Their products are quite reknowned for the quality and attention to detail. Addition of SoyShield to #2 diesel fuel at recommended rate will boost it to Premium status.

"#139 SoyShield Cetane improver. Contains fuel economy package. Cummins L-10 Superior Performance. Upgrades #2 to Premium. Improves lubricity with soy oil. 1 gal. to 500 gal."

Here is the product sheet:

http://www.schaefferoil.com/datapdf/139.pdf

I use their Neutra product religiously in both gas and diesel fuel and occasionally in oil as a 500 mile/10 hour (tractor) engine flush that uses esters to gently purge carbon deposits in the motor without being too harsh. Some of the gurus on Bobistheoilguy.com have even ran Neutra in their oil for entire oil change intervals at a rate of 1 oz. per qt of oil with no detriment to wear metals in the UOA. Schaeffer's products all come highly recommended from the oil obsessed on BITOG.

"#131 Neutra Fuel Stabalizer (Gas, Diesel, LPG) 2-4 qts. to 100 gal. fuel. Replaces lead, improves lubricity 30-57%. (Exceeds John Deere lubricity performance for low sulfur diesel.) Improves combustion, neutralizes acids, increases fuel economy, lubricates upper cylinders, and provides cleanliness to system."

Here is the product sheet for Neutra:

I do not sell Schaeffer's products, just firmly believe in them.

Does the SoyShield smell like Klotz two stroke oil when it burns?

I noticed that Power Service is now adding Soy to their line of diesel additives. Bottles are marked with 'Slickdiesel'.

It's very similar to biodiesel, and borrowing from the concept. There are a number of soy based additives that are out on the market aside from Schaeffer's. I prefer to just add a few gals of real biodiesel myself. It definitely does quiet down the idle/ticking with all the extra lubricity.

For those in Texas interested in Biodiesel, Willie Nelson (yep ol *****) has started a Biodiesel company and sells it at the truck stop in Carl's Corner (Hillsburo)Tx. I believe it's called Willydiesel or something like that. Read about it in the RFD farm magazine. I may try when I get upthat way.

IF any one is in Utah I use Schaeffer's Diesel Treat 2000 Summer and WInterizer. It's great stuff, and yes my truck runs alot quieter, I don't here the clatter as much, and I get better fuel milage as well, I buy it buy the case for 130.00 in Gal. containers. if any one in Utah needs some I know who to contact in Utah. He is the Utah Rep.

hahahaha

I see you know Willie. Maybe someone in the Hillsboro area can check it out. It is south of Dallas where I-35E and I-35W split. The only time I'm there is to go to the NHRA national drags in Ennis.

My guess is Willie's interest in farmers and Farm-Aid.
