rough start kinda .. question

rough start kinda .. question

i hope i am not beating a dead horse with his question , cause i have hit the search button to try to solve my problem .. but it is a little different then a few other ..
o.k . it is getting a little colder here at night .. but not that cold were there is frost or anything ... anyway my problem is when i go out to start my truck in the morning , or if my truck has sit for a few days and not been run .. it start right away and idles really rough puking white smoke for about 4-5 seconds and then clears right up and runs like a top .. and once warm ed up it start perfect ???

any ideas ????

I would run some injector cleaner stat, your symptoms lead to bad injector(s)

wow fast response .. **** !! thats no good if that the problem .. i have a big think power service.. i usually run a dose of mmo and power service every fill up

have you changed you fuel filter lately?

also take it to the dealer and have your ECM updated to the latest software available for your truck.

a few months ago i usually change it every other oil change .. i do my oil changes every 4000 miles

o.k. so i went out tonight and tried to start my truck .. and man !! it was a bugger to start !! after about 4 tries it did start and idled terrible for a bit and then finally cleared up !! you know the funny thing is i never did get a CEL come on ever.. and up to this point i have never thrown a CEL or a code !! argh !!!
any suggestions ??!!!

the rail pressure code your getting is pretty common if you're running a box that increases fuel rail pressure. i had it myself but was able to clear it after several attempts and it has not come back. the starting problem you are experiencing sounds exactly like the one that i had until i got a re-flash about 3 weeks ago and have'nt had the problem since. i don't think this version of the new software has been available that long so if you were re-flashed several years ago it might no longer be the latest version for your truck.
