rough idle sometimes

My truck just started idling rough yesterday. It has always idled really smooth. I stopped at a traffic light and it felt like a gas burner with a fowled plug. I have 58,000 miles, any suggestions? Possibly injector?

How long has it been since you changed your fuel filter?

You could have bought some bad fuel. Some people change their fuel filter every 3K-5K miles. Might want to try that . . . . you need one soon anyway.

Not sure if you have changed it before, but here is a great step by step from one of our members:

i don't want to sound like a broken record but throw a full bottle of either howes meaner cleaner or seafoam info the fuel tank and either pull something with your truck or run it hard.

First thing I'd do is pour a bottle or two (or three) of Sea Foam in the tank. If it's a fouled or dirty injector then that will most likely cure it.

My did the same thing earlier this week and Sea Foam seems to have smoothed it out. If nothing else works your engine is still under warranty. Have the dealer look at it.

Yes, put some pull system/injector cleaner in there. I had the same problem and I put some Power Service cleaner in there and the problem went away... Well it came back about 10K miles later so I put some Lucas in then the next tank I used Seafoam.... All is good with my idle again.
