Rotella (roSMELLA)?

So I've read here previously that Rotella can be somewhat....smelly. I believe some said it only smells right after you change your oil and then goes away.

Well I noticed the smell right away. I sort of liked it but I mostly smelled it in the cab of the truck. When I opened the hood and sniffed I couldn't smell anything. Also I had some friends immeadiately comment that my truck smelled "different" without me saying something first.

How long does it usually take for the smell to go away?

Why does seem to only smell in the cab of the truck?

TIA

The fumes from the crankcase vent end up getting sucked in the cowl and blown into your cab. With my 2001 I ended up relocating the location of the bottle to beneath the truck and the problem is now gone...I'm sure others with a more modern truck like yours will chime in with their solutions.

Switch to Delo. Rotella stinks for about the first 1000 miles after an oil change. Delo is better IMO anyhow.

I've been using Shell Rotella for years, and it has always had a "pleasant odor" after an oil change for a few days! Trouble is I like the smell, and I see it as a little reward for changing the oil on my truck!

Always makes me think of a nice clean engine!

I have used Rotella for years now. I have never noticed a different smell after changing it out. Now I have to change my oil to see what you guys are talking about.

I still do every 3-3500, just because it doesnt cost that much anyway, cheap assurance to me...
$38 each time is still cheaper than the $45~ I spent changing the Mobil 1 in my old Trans Am.....

Most guys go 5k-7k some go 10k, im not that brave.

It was an '01 WS6, Air lid, Hooker Long tubes, 3" duals X pipe bullet mufflers dumped, Spec st 3 clutch, TSP 231/237 cam, put down 401rwhp, man I miss that car

I have an LS1 sitting on an engine stand too, waiting to go in my '62 Nova, but havent had the time to mess with it, I cant stop messing with my truck

Ill have another one, as soon as I wise up and stop messing with my truck till the warranty is up(and more importantly its paid off)
