reusable oil filter

anyone ever used or heard about this oil filter. ultrafilter is a oil filter made out of billit aluminum with a reusable stainless steel filter. the filter will stop dirt down to 32 microns in size. it also has no bye pass valve in it so all the oil is filtered. check it out and let me know your opion about this.

32 microns is big when it scrapes up and down inside the engine.

Re: reusable oil filter

Most oil filters filter about 66% of the oil over a 3000 mile interval
32 microns is .00125"

Chances of me using a "re-usable" oil filter are about the same as me re-using toilet paper after the chili cook-off

I've got to agree, I've always seen these as a solution to a problem I don't have.

Save money? Not worth it.
Easier? cleaning vs throwing away? Nope.
Better? Doubt it. Don't want to fight it out with a dealer should I have a warranty issue.

Just think of telling a prospective buyer when you sell your truck "I've never changed the filter!" That will go over big. Stick with proven results.

But it just goes to show you that if someone out there makes it....someone will buy it. It would probably shock you how many have been sold.......

Rather than stainless steel filter media; think toilet paper filters.

You apparently have a bit of misconception about what an oil filter bypass is for. It does not bypass part of the oil. ALL the oil goes thru the filter. UNTIL the filter plugs up. When a filter plugs up, it passes no oil. Not good for engine bearing, etc. At THAT POINT ONLY, the bypass opens so the engine will continue to be supplied with oil, albeit unfiltered.

Fleetguard Stratopore LF3892s for me. No gimmicks please! I don't use cleanable air filters either.

it seems oil filtration is always the subject of constant unneccessary innovation, anyone else notice this?
