Resetting computer

Resetting computer
I got in my truck this morning to head to work and did the normal start up. The engine light didnt go out, and it beeped at me to let me know it was there. Last night, it was all fine after fill up. Now this morning, this happens?
No idea what it is, but I would like to just "reset" the ecm to see if it comes back on, as I am going on a mini road trip after work (only 300miles) and just dont want to be standed. But if it comes back, I can look for another way up.
Any ideas or tricks I should know about? Some old GM cars can have the ignition on the acc. position and press the accelerator 40 times to reset.. Anything like this? Thanks in advance!!

You can try unplugging the battery...not sure if you can "reset" the ecm the way you want. You may have to get it scanned to see what is wrong if unplugging doesn't help. Or get the code's by turning your ignition to the first setting three times and seeing what you get.

First off use the key on/off 3 times to see if there are any codes. Probably a one time occurance but check to be sure. If it was just a one time thing after 30 or so good starts it will just go away by itself. If not at least you will know what caused it with the code scan.
Just turn the key off and on 3 times leaving the key on for the last cycle. Do not let it turn over the starter while cycling the key. Also this has to be done quite rapidly to get it to display so as fast as you can on the key cycles to make it work. After the 3rd cycle leave the key on and watch the odometer. Code will be displayed in the mileage area and when finished will show ----Done----. There are references for what the various codes are availabe on this and other sites and should let you know what they are.

dodgezilla04- I know this is a OLD thread but thanks for the input on this. I had to justify this truck to my wife(huge Ford fan and almost bought a 6. oh oh) and was sweating the code this morning on my daily 60 mile commute to work. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief for the code.
