Replacing cracked Transfer Case Half.

I have a crack in the front half of my transfer case which I think may have been caused by a bad u-joint. I'm going to either replace or rebuild the driveshaft but I'm wondering how hard it would be to replace the front half of the t-case and just swap the guts into the new one.

Is this a huge job? Very involved?

Special tools needed?

I've swapped lots of whole trannies and t-cases but never opened one up.

Thanks for your help.

I think it would be best to have a shop do the case change. You can try to find a rebuild guide for your model to see what is involved and then decide.

Yep for sure. Manual would be essential!

Has anybody ever done this?

Thanks.

Can't be that bad, if you can remove them, find a manual that has directions and specs and I would think you will be fine, worst case is you have to bring them to someone to finish.
