Replacement Muffler

Replacement Muffler
Well we just got back from being on the road for 3 weeks pulling the 5th wheel and have decided the MBRP replacement muffler needs to go. At certian RPM's it is so loud it will rattle things in the truck. What would be some good choices for a replacement that would still flow good to help get exhaust gasses out to keep EGT's down but not be to loud while towing? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Donaldson M100580. Installed a while back for same reasons.I simply could not take the noise and vibration in the cab.It was causing change in the console to rattle. This M100580 is very quiet, and also made the truck run much better. If you look at their website,it tells the flow #s,and they are up there pretty high

Thanks for the reply. When I look this one up it shows to be a 5" in/out, my truck has a 4" exhaust on it will that make any differance? Do they have the same thing in a 4" in/out?

Sorry bout that.Yes,you will need a 4".When I purchased mine,it had a small piece of metal inside.I called Donaldson and told them(in case it rattled when running,I couldnt get it to come out either end) and found their customer support to be top notch.I would bet if you look them up on the net and call, they will fix you right up with what you need.Ryder Truck Fleet sales had the best price($100 or so) she is QUIET in the cab,no drone and the neighbors are starting to wave again as I drive down our street.I couldnt stand the drone another mile.

I currently have a 4" MBRP system on my 03 and like it very much; however, my wife and I cannot carry on a discussion at times due to the tone of the muffler. Given your experience, I am certainly not looking forward to towing the 5th wheel in the future. Earlier today, I ordered a Donaldson M100580 today due to the positive feedback that I discovered while doing a DTR search of this product.
I plan on reducing the muffler inlet and outlet down to 4" by utilizing two exhaust reducing adapters. I also recommend you make sure the hanger brackets and clamps are installed correctly and tightened down in order to alleviate any vibration or feedback from the system.
