Re:Removing the Silencer Ring

Well...at least now I know I removed the right thing. ;D Great pics!! I managed to remove it last night without your assistance...but I'm sure someone else will come along that can use those. ;D

Now....regarding this silencer ring. Has the thought occurred to anyone else that maybe this ring is intended for something besides silencing the turbo?? I mean...yeah...I can hear the turbo a little more now....but I don't think it's loud enough to justify DC going and putting that little ring in there. It's shape leads me to think that maybe it has some other intended purpose....like channeling air. Anybody else know anything about this???

Re:Removing the Silencer Ring

We have to be careful discussing high performance wipers, this post could be moved.

I think I my have voided my warranty already :'( I didn't realize you were not allowed to drive outdoors

Hoss
on my 01 I couldn't hear the turbo whistle ( 2nd gen engines are louder) until I put the gn trailer on and got the boost up with a load. Yeah What TXRAM2 said Hoss...use the truck for what its designed for...towing. You will benefit in the long run if you get a trailer in the 10,000lb plus range now and break it in nice. Warm it up some.
Of course do this before the first oil change and after.
At least that is what one of the Cummins' techs stated to me from Indiana. I do that to all my trucks. ;D
