What do I look for, to indicate the driveshaft ujoints may need replacing?

 

The front driveshaft came out without any issues.

I think the front torx bolts were alot easier to remove than the rear bolts, at the tcase.

Anyways, thanks for the info. All the joints were tight and moved freely, and did not show any signs or symptoms of needing replacement.

 

mine was worn on the needle bearing part where the 2 joints pivot,i dont know why they need the double u joint idea,its not a steep angle at all,mine was vibrating to so i take it off for summer and install in the winter,i guess i shoud just fix it haha

 

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Removing the front driveshaft to eliminate it as a vibration source. My question is.....before removing it do you need to mark it somehow on both ends to ensure it gets re-installed in the same position?

It's a good idea to mark it at the diff and the trfr case, at least that's what I did.
I finaly got some grease into that PIA joint while I had it on the bench too...

 

At the axle end of the shaft there are grooves that will also line it back up
