Redline ShockProof

thinking about getting the "Heavy" shockproof for the diffs in a couple trucks, a 02 with dana 60 and 80s and the 04 below,

Ive read how great the oil is in high temp conditions, but how is it at -40, when nothing wants to move, same with the Redline MTL for the nv5600s, will they lubricate properly,

I cant find any info about pour points or viscosity and -40, any help would be great

I have been using RedLine before I bought my CTD. It is I think the best lubricant out there. I run their 75/90 in the diffs, MTL in the 5600 and ATF in the TC. I also use the water wetter for the collant and their diesel additive, and the RedLine grease for all greasable joints. At -40 very little moves, but RedLine moves better than other lubricants I found. I used to live in Alberta for 20 years. The winters can be harsh especially up north. If you're looking to by some RedLine stuff Mopac stocks it regularly and sometimes has a sale on it.

mikeyb, thats exactly what i need but it doesn't have the heavy shockproof on it, the other shockproofs have great low temp viscosity but not the 140 viscosity when hot,

Shockproof Heavy is a GREAT geear lube. The stuff is like paint! I had to use a solvent-based cleaner (brake cleaner) to clean my diff cover when I did my last diff oil change.

It coats and sticks really well to the gears. It leaves me with the impression that it all but eliminates dry starts of the gears.

The Heavy stuff is VERy thick. It's tough to pour out of the bottle. But I think it protects very well in heavily loaded differentials. If you tow heavy, I believe it would probably be the best oil available for you at any price.

It DOES sacrifice some efficiency for the protection, and MPG will be a hair lower with the SP heavy.

If you are not sure about the shockproof, try the regular Redline gear oil in 75-90 or 75-140. Both are great products.

Redline's products are generally pretty decent, but I believe their gear oils to be the best in the world, even if their other stuff is just simply "good."

JMO, as always.
