Really slow off the line.

Really slow off the line.
Hi,
My 03 Cummins has started to slip a lot off the line, especially when pulling my 5th wheel. Is that adjusted by the the external adjustment for the 1st band?
Or am I going to have to drop the pan to get to the 2nd gear band?
All other shifts are spot on.
Thanks ....

Think the forward/first band applies for shifting from 1st to 2nd, and re-releases when 2nd to 3rd shift happens.
The rear band is for selecting forward/reverse.

OP back, you guys are going to laugh at this one....
Like I posted my truck has been slow off the line for awhile but I never really gave it much thought until I started this camping trip pulling my 5th wheel.
We are now in western NC and getting the rig going from a stop combined with the hills is torture...I bit the bullet and took it to the local auto transmission shop for a look. I went with the head tech for a test drive (without the camper) and at first he didn't notice anything too bad then he tried forcing into low while accelerating and low and behold it burned a bit of rubber and took off like a scalded cat;-)
He said the tranny is starting in second gear all the time!, no first gear. He guessed its been doing it for awhile and I just didn't notice it because of the chipped engine, 4" exhaust and open intake etc. Plus an HD rebuilt tranny (triple disc TQ billet shaft etc)took up the slack. Duhhhh on me. Now what's interesting putting it in low before taking off didn't do anything, I tried that numerous times, he could only get it into first after flooring it then moving the gear lever to low. He said he knew what it was, the usual suspects, Governor Pressure sensor and switch.
Two hours labor and some parts and fluid and I'm happy. Boy do I feel dumb, but it took the tech some time too realize the shifting issue also. He said with a stock tranny and engine I couldn't have even driven it.

Starting in second means the forward band was being applied right away.
When I have to do mine again I'm going to look into the GM style mount, which I hope retains the pressure sensor better. Think the stock mount is not adequate for the pressure sensor.
