Question for SuperDuty re: CP3S AGAIN!!
OK it's been 2 days now and everything is bone dry. So my question is.....
1. was what I was getting from install of new pump? maybe where the pump
mates to the housing some fuel was left behind during install that made
its way out?
2. do you think this CP3S is OK?
3. if so, I guess I should bite the bullet and install some form of aux. pump
i.e. FASS? or your setup?
thanks,
all your info on these problems has been very helpfull!!!!

They just replaced mine last friday and didnt wash the fuel off that had leaked out while they were changing it. It had more fuel on it when I got it back then when it went in. I washed the fuel off and it looks good now. They also left two of the mounting nuts off. Had to take it back and get those installed

You appear to be under warranty, so drive it and don't worry about it.
I'd get the lift pump tested to be sure that works OK.
I wouldn't use the box for a while.
I'd be very careful about using that box until this gets resolved. Being you are on your 3rd CP3, it wouldn't take much for someone to void your warranty and the next CP3 is on your dime.
You know my position on the aftermarket fuel pump.

I think if I were you I would have a talk with my dealer about the lift pump issue.
He might approve of changing the pump to something aftermarket to get rid of this problem. He might also get serious about testing your lift pump. Ask him if he has a way to test it with some backpressure, like 10 PSI. That might find an intermittent pump.

SD, is there possibly a cavity between the mounting faces where the fuel could have layed, that finally made its way through when the motor was hot the other day towing? Temp gauge did run 200 so I know its the hottest its gotten since the pump was replaced.

Doubtful.
I think either the lift pump or the box is involved in these failures. I'd love to know which one.
If you drive it as it is without the box and it fails and the lift pump proves bad, then we know the lift pump caused it. Easy to fix.
If you get the lift pump diagnosed and it is bad and you get it replaced and you never get a leak again, we know it is probably the lift pump. Easy to fix.
If you get the lift pump diagnosed and it is good. And you put a pressure gauge on and it shows OK pressure to the CP3 at WOT. And you drive it for a while without the box and it is OK. And then you turn on the box and it fails. You know it is the box. Easy to fix. Throw the box away.
If you drive it now, don't get the lift pump diagnosed, use the box and it leaks. We learn nothing and you get ongoing grief.
Weather might play a part too. Is it cold there ?
Do you feel like a Guinea pig yet ?

O.K. SuperDuty I've got the FASS fuel pump on order.(I like ur setup, but this was easy) Box has been off since Tuesday. No leaking. 500 mile trip Saturday and if new pump makes it in and CP3S stays dry I will install on Sunday.
The more and more I thought about it the lift pump has to be weak.
Thanks
