question on shifting out of OD

When im pulling my trailer and im heading towards a hill, is it ok to drop out of OD going about 65 or so mph? i lose speed sooooooo fast going up a hill and the only way to gain is of course to lock out OD. But im just not sure on how safe it is to lock out at that speed... thanks everyone for all the help!!
ive been off the forum for a few months, trying to get back into things!!

thanks again
Eric

That's kind of related to my topic on the 48re horse. I personally think 65 is a little too fast. However, if you're going up a hill towing, and starting to lug, perhaps not??

My brother has the 47re. When I shift out of OD at say 50-55mph it is very smoooth. When i do this with my 48re it is a harder shift up into drive. Is the 48re designed to give this harder shift as a shift kit would do when installed on a tranny, or is it something to get checked? (It is not really noticeable when i shift out of OD under 50mph.)

(The above was the question I had.)
