Question about manual transmissions on 2003?
Pardon my ignorance, but did the manual 2003's have a 6-spd in addition to the 5 spds I keep seeing on my search of these trucks? I would rather have that 6th gear if possible. Thanks.
Opps...just answered my own question by finding a 6-spd 2003. Thanks, anyway. But as long as I am here...does anyone know of some good sites to research used diesel pickups? I have autotrader.com ...cars. com.....and trucktraderonline.com.

www.turbodieselregister.com I think the HO manuals were 6 spd. Craig

SO's were 5 speeds, HO was a 6 speed. The SO with the 5 speed got the 11.5 in rear end just like the HO and the 1 tons. The SO with the auto got the 10.5 in rear end. Put a mild fueling box on the SO and you got plenty of power for about anything you would want to tow.

Same as above, I agree. When I was looking for a truck, it was almost impossible to find a SO 5 speed (even though I was looking for and found the HO 6 speed) Try and find one with 3.73's however, that is if you want better fuel economy. Even with 3.73's, I would like to have a set of 3.54's. I do like to cruise at 70-75, and with 4.10's that would really suck up some fuel economy. But of course, if you plan on hauling some serious loads, the 4.10's are REALLY going to get the job done. But, I have been pretty heavy (@ 20K LBS), and the 3.73's have gotten the job done real easily, stock power and all.
