No you can't read different cylinder exhaust gas temperatures with codes or even with a scanner. To know what temperature each individual cylinder is running, you have to have a pyro probe in each cylinder. The guys building Project X in Diesel Power magazine, did do this. They installed six seperate probes that run to a computer that monitors the EGT's of all six cylinders and various other items on the engine.

Pyrometer readings are such a vital reading in gen sets. It gave us insight to how close to a scheduled PM we could get or if injector problems might need quick attention. Maybe Cummins, CAT or Mercedes coud package this on the next gen. Some type of wireless set up.

Forever, top fuel dragsters and funny cars have pyros for each cylinder.
It wouldn't be hard to install on the Cummins, just need a lot of parts and a lot of drilling and tappinng.

Individual egt probes is a great way to keep track of your injectors and overall efficency of the motor. Given the correct program, if a cylinder was running a little colder than the others, and you knew there was not a mechanical issue, you could adjust the injection timing /duration and alter the temp to make all cylinders equal.
But as stated, lots of probes and wires and gauges. Costly for sure.
