putting a sub in my truck?

I want to put a sub in my 04 but I have the fold flat storage floor and don't know what direction I should take. Don't really want to sacrifice the flat floor. Has anyone Dealt with this and what did you do?

I just went through this. There is a box available that fits under the back seat. If you have the folding storage, the folding steel plates have to be removed. It is a sealed box, and it takes to 10" subwoofers. It's kinda on the small side interior volume-wise, and it's sealed, so you don't want to skimp on amplifier power. I can't remember who makes it. I do know it's new on the market-my stereo shop just got one in 2 weeks ago, and my truck was the first install they did. The only odd thing is that they have to raise the whole rear seat up to fit it. The box comes with the correct lengthened bolts to do this, and it also comes with several small blocks of wood to elevate the seat. It looks kinda cheesy to see wood under the seat when you open the rear doors, but it seems to function fine. I have not had any rear passengers complain about it. The back of the seat no longer hooks to the back of the cab of the truck, but it will not fold forward when someone is in the seat.

All said, it's a fairly good solution. I would do it again. Just remember to get a pretty powerful amp.

Here is another option. Take a look at the SRT-10 and see where they mount the SUB for it.
I believe they replace the front center bottom cushion with at down firing SUB, but it still retains the upper portion for your armrest.

I know Ive seen a prefab box that only takes up one side of your backseat/fold flat floor.

Under the front center seat is also a pretty popular place. JL makes a stealth box for 2nd gen trucks like that, not sure about the 3rd gens though.

Yeah, my stereo shop also mentioned the box that only takes up one side under the backseat. I wanted 2 speakers, so I went with the new box that takes up both sides.

JL has a stealth box for the passenger side. i currently run one it comes from JL with a 10w3. it has a good deep bass sound to it. some other manufactures make dual boxes for 10's but the problem is no one makes a box big enough to accomodate the volume of air needed to run 2 10's so the JL single 10 i think is the best route to take. just my .02
if you need a good deal i can get you one on a JL, also i can get you the box unloaded(without the 10W3) so you can install which ever sub you want in it.

Do a search on Ebay, there are boxes from MTX, JL and several single and double boxes.

It appears Slimpicken is already aware of the under seat boxes, because he mentioned he wasn't sure he was willing to give up his load flat floor. Of course if he's willing to give up the larger half of his fold flat floor he can get the JL stealth box, which is top notch. However, I'm sure a competent stereo shop can build a box with an 8" sub or the like under the center seat.

you really only have two options. under the rear seats(one side or both). or center section of the front seat.

both ways you lose some storage.

Now if you have leather I am not sure anyone is going ot make a center section.

I am going to run 2 tens under the rear seat. as far as the storage anthing I want inside I can put on the seat. anything else can go in that 6-8" section behind the cab.
